Have you ever heard of truck driver appreciation day (or week)? This is a day dedicated to celebrating all professional truck drivers who make sacrifices every day to ensure goods and resources travel safely to their destination. We at Stoneridge couldn't let this pass us by. Every day, truck drivers are on the road keeping our world running. From groceries to essential goods - without them, our stores, factories, and lives would grind to a halt. And for that, we appreciate them tremendously.
1. They are our economic engine:
Every year, truck drivers transport millions of tons of goods worldwide, making them essential to the continuity of trade and production.
2. Truck drivers are go-getters:
Drivers brave long days, changing weather conditions and complex logistical challenges. Day-in, day-out.
3. The guardians of safety on the road:
With advanced technology and years of experience, they make sure our roads stay safe.
4. Truck drivers drive around the earth more than 2.5 times in a year:
Truck drivers are not only indispensable; they also spend significant time on the road, driving over 100,000 kilometers annually. To illustrate this great distance, the circumference of the earth is about 40,075 kilometers.
5. A lot of countries have a day to celebrate this profession:
Although there isn’t a global holiday, many countries have their own dedicated day to celebrate truck drivers. Canada and the US have a whole week dedicated to the work of drivers in September. Australia also celebrates in September, Japan in October, and The Netherlands and Belgium mark this event on the second Thursday of December.
6. They spend a lot of time in other countries:
With all this information, it makes sense that they spend about 20% of their time on the road outside their home country.
7. The industry is getting green:
With how much time trucks spend on the road, it’s a good thing modern trucks now feature technologies that have reduced CO₂ emissions by up to 25% since 2010.
